  MOON WOMAN QUIZ ANSWERS

In Moxie's print issue on Sheroes, Suzanne Waterstone explains that just as there are four phases of the moon, there seem to be four "types" of women. Some of you took the quiz
to find out whether you're the Waxing Moon Woman, the woman of expansive effort; the Full Moon Woman, the woman of romance; the Waning Moon Woman, who gives herselfaway; or the New Moon Woman, who peers at those who watch without being fully visible.

Here's a short description of each "woman in the moon" followed by your questions, and Dr. Waterstone's answers.

The Waxing Moon Woman is a huntress with a virginal quality. A true Amazon, she draws her arrow back and takes aim at her goal. Independent and determined, she cuts to the chase. Her accomplishments are more important to her than anything else and she enjoys getting a job done. Sometimes a loner, she can develop a camaraderie with others, particularly if they share the same goal. Like Star Trek's Captain Janeway, she's well-organized and practical. She is likely to work full-throttle, flat out, to realize a
project that is of her own making. Got something a client needs yesterday? She'll cut to the chase and turn back the clock to get the job done. Her motto? "Stop at nothing!"

Full Moon Women's lives are about relationship. They play, they laugh. They want to enjoy themselves and want their partners, friends, and lovers to enjoy themselves also. They are essentially interested in pleasure and intimacy. Like Scarlet O'Hara in Gone With the Wind, they care little or nothing about getting a job done. Got an important project to do? Fiddle-dee-dee, as Scarlet would say. Their motto is "Let's have a good
time!"

The Waning Moon Woman's focus is on giving. Like Gaia, the earth mother, she provides sustenance. She feels best when she's helping the hungry, the homeless, the injured, the sick, the vulnerable. No one can give as unselfishly, as lovingly, as kindly as she. Anyone who has ever been injured or very ill and who has been cared for by a Waning Moon Woman knows how gentle, respectful and reassuring a Waning Moon Woman can be. If she had a motto, it would be "Live to give."

The New Moon Woman reads between the lines, bringing to light what others leave in the dark. Original and creative, she may be mystical, spiritual or religious. She creates the new dance, the new music, the new idea. She's the handwriting expert; she reads Tarot and palms. She may be able to "see" and predict what is invisible to others. Like the New or the Dark Moon, she is essentially invisible; there but not there.

Cjay writes:
When in took the test i came out to be a warning moon. What does this mean?

Dr Waterstone answers:

Dear Cjay

"W A R N I N G M O O N" is one I'm unfamiliar with--maybe you meant "waning moon." The Waning Moon Woman is the Woman who is always giving to others. Like the Waning Moon seems to get smaller (giving itself away); she is always giving to others. I guess she might give a "warning" to protect someone as she is usually taking care of the safety of others. Read the notes on the Waning Moon here on the website.

Thanks for the "warning"!

Sincerely,

Dr. W.

Amy B. writes:
Ok I was mostly b's so what does that mean?

Dr Waterstone answers:

Dear Amy B.

OK - that means that Moon-wise you are mostly a Full Moon Woman--a romantic; a person who seeks involvement in relationships. You are a person who wants to pair-up, cuddle-up, play. You seek intimacy in your relationships--mostly!

Sincerely,

Dr. W.

I found the moon quiz to be quite whimsical yet found myself typed accurately withmost full moon pts and afew a,c +d(s) How did you know that I'm a lover and fairy queen?

Dr Waterstone answers:

Dear Jaimi,

I'm glad you appreciated the playfulness in MoXie Moon Woman Quiz and am
delighted that your results felt accurate to you. I didn't, of course, know
that you were a lover and a fairy queen, but you also are likely a Geisha
and a mermaid; a romantic and shaman.

Thanks for you comments.

Sincerely

Dr. W.

Susie writes:

Hello Dr. Waterstone,

What a nice name....I seem to be a mixed type of Moon Woman. I got the following from taking the test: A=3 B=2 C=3 D=5

I guess I'm mostly a New Moon Woman, but I'm not quite clear on the meaning of these types according to the cycle of the Moon. I've always been fascinated by the stars and planets, though. Can you tell me more?

Dr Waterstone answers:

Dear Susie,

You are indeed "mostly" a New Moon Woman. As you have always been fascinated by the planets and stars, perhaps you will give the moon and her phases some attention too. The New moon is the dark mysterious Moon and you are under her protection. Stories of Mermaids may be especially meaningful to you--as the Mermaid is the Woman in the New Moon. In my column in the Body Issue of Moxie Magazine, on stands now, I describe bed & bathtimes for the different Moon types. You might find some of the suggestions for the New Moon Woman of interest. Have you seen Splash or read the fairy tale of
The Little Mermaid?

Thanks for your comments & questions.

Sincerely,

Dr. W.

p.s. So glad you like my name!

Kristin writes:
What does a full moon woman mean?

Dr Waterstone answers:

Dear Kristin,

A Full Moon Woman pretty much means whatever she says, but she is inclined to flirt. She will show how she really feels (positive and negative) and values nothing more than real intimacy with one other person. Regarding 'meaning' she doesn't mean to confuse, but rather to entice, amuse, tease, and seduce!

Thanks for your question.

Sincerely,

Dr. W.

Samantha writes:
I am a full moon and I was just wondering if it is in my nature to fall easily and painfully in love? I am curious if it is in that nature to be a sap. I fell for a man about four months ago. It only lasted a month but for some reason he is the only boyfriend I can't get out of my head. I don't know if I am blindly loving or if I am actually meant to be with him. I am very confused. Please help me understand.

Dr Waterstone answers:

Dear Samantha,

It is the nature of the Full Moon Woman to put intimacy, love, and romance first in her life. One of her life tasks is to learn that each of her relationships has a proper duration, some last a long long time, some only a short time. Another task of the Full Moon Woman is to learn to endure the grief that comes when a relationship doesn't go exactly as she wishes. She must be able to accept rejection when it is right for the other person, but
she must also develop the strength to reject someone if that is the right thing for her. The Full Moon Woman may have many intimate, intense relationships over her lifetime--the art of the Full Moon Woman is the art of love and romance. Each relationship enriches her, but she must remain positive. Take a peek at the video Out of Africa and read Memoirs of a Geisha.

Thanks for your very good question.

Sincerely,

Dr. W.

Pamela writes:
I'm a mixed B and C....could you please explain what this means??? If it's of any help, I'm 20. and a Scorpio

Dr Waterstone answers:

Dear Pamela,

Mixed B and C means that you are a mixture of a Waning Moon Woman (Mother) and a Full Moon Woman (Geisha).

That you are 20 and a Scorpio is not much help-- though I like Scorpios and think Scorpio is a very fine sign, I haven't yet related the Sun signs to the Phases of the Moon.

At 20, you are learning about your Full Moon strengths in romance and relationship and your Waning Moon strengths in giving to and protecting others.

Thanks for your question.

Sincerely,

Dr. W.

Shauntelle writes:
What does waxing mean? What kind of woman am I?

Dr Waterstone answers:

Dear Shantelle,

"Waxing" means increasing, getting bigger. The Waxing Moon is the Moon that is getting bigger; the Waxing Moon is the Amazon or the Huntress Moon. There are notes on this Website telling more about the Waxing Moon Woman.

What kind of woman are you? I can't tell without your scores from the quiz. You can find out though--take the quiz here on the Website and follow the instructions. There is information on this Website on each of the four Moon Women Types.

Thanks for your question.

Sincerely,

Dr. W.

Dee writes: Dear Doc!
I would be grateful if you could tell me my moon type: I got a=4 b=2 c=4 d=2. thank you for your time.

Dr Waterstone answers:

Dear Dee,

You are a mixture of a Waxing Moon Woman (the huntress) and the Waning Moon Woman (the mother). The Huntress (moon) is always running after her quarry or hanging out with other huntresses inbetween hunts. The Mother is always giving--nurturing others, feeding others, protecting them. I'd say romance and creativity sometimes take a back seat in your life.

Thanks for writing.

Sincerely,

Dr. W.

Milagritos asks:

Dr. Waterstone,

Does belonging to any particular type affect one's career choices?

Dr Waterstone answers:

Dear Milagritos,

Many inluences contribute to the choice of a career--parents' values, education, opportunities, talents, even friends. The Moon Phase will contribute to the particular 'style' with which one lives, including career. Some occupations 'fit' better with some moon styles, but each of the four has her strengths and weaknesses, her empathy and her narcissism! At best, Waning Moon Women enjoy motherhood and really shine during their mothering days. The New Moon Woman is at her best if she can earn money in
ways that offer room for her spirituality and creativity. The Waxing Moon Woman needs room and freedom to get things done in her occupation, and the Full Moon Woman does best in occupations that include her need for relatedness and play!

The fall edition of MoXie in print will be devoted to women's work, and my
column will be in on Moon Women and work styles.

Thanks for writing,

Sincerely,

Dr. W.

Navreet asks: What exactly does a 'mixed type' moon woman mean?

Dr Waterstone answers:

Dear Navreet,

I use the term "mixed type" when a woman scores the same on two or more of the phases of the moon. A woman sometimes comes up as a Waxing/Full or a Waning/New. She is then neither one nor the other but Both--or we need to refine our quiz.

Sincerely,

Dr. W.

Gabriella asks: What does this quiz say about me? I got (5) A's, (4) B's, and (4) C's.

Dr Waterstone answers:

Dear Gabriela,

The quiz says you got 5 As, 4 Bs, and 4 Cs and no D's??? Did you read the notes on the Website about the Waxing Moon Women? The Waxing Moon women is the Amazon-huntress. And your quiz scores indicate that the amazon-huntress personality has strong back up from the Full Moon (the Geisha) and the Waning Moon (the Mother). Take a peek at the notes on each of the Moon Types on this the Moxie Website.

Also my articles on the Moon Women are available in the print editions of Moxie Magazine. The summer Body issue is still on the stands and you can order the spring Sheroes issue from Moxie. I have another article you might enjoy coming out in the fall print issue of MoXie, which will be on Women's Work.

Thanks for your question.

Sincerely Dr. W.
